The Technological University of Tecamachalco (UTTECAM) in Puebla is positioning itself as a regional hub for innovation and sustainable development through new strategic alliances with the Wadhwani Foundation and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.
The partnerships aim to expand educational programs, strengthen entrepreneurship, and implement circular economy initiatives with direct community impact.
Under an agreement with the Wadhwani Foundation India–Mexico, UTTECAM will integrate the Ignite, Liftoff, and Accelerate programs into its curriculum, targeting the development of entrepreneurial, digital, and socioemotional competencies among students and faculty. This aligns with a broader push from Puebla’s Governor, Alejandro Armenta, to equip the state’s workforce with skills relevant to emerging economic and environmental challenges. The foundation’s global network is expected to provide UTTECAM with access to resources and training models that have been tested across diverse international markets.
In parallel, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce’s Sustainability Directorate will collaborate with the university to design a circular economy framework for Tecamachalco, focusing initially on municipal solid waste management. The model will employ cooperative and social solidarity structures to improve collection, treatment, and recycling processes. Integrated under the Por Amor a Puebla initiative, the project is intended to reduce environmental pressures while increasing community participation in resource recovery and reuse.
By combining technical skills development with practical sustainability projects, UTTECAM is seeking to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world implementation. University officials emphasize that these partnerships are not only about enhancing institutional capacity but also about establishing scalable models for waste management and entrepreneurship that can be replicated in other municipalities across Mexico.
