Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) and the Plastics Energy Trading and Recycling Processing Organisation (PETPRO) have unveiled a scalable glass recycling model aimed at tackling the country’s mounting glass waste and advancing a circular economy framework.
The partnership, announced in Dar es Salaam, aligns with growing national priorities on waste management and environmental conservation.
According to TBL Managing Director Michelle Kilpin, the initiative addresses the rising environmental burden of glass waste while also providing a blueprint for manufacturers to strengthen their role in sustainable production.
The collaboration seeks to reduce glass material ending up in landfills, improve nationwide recycling rates, and establish a circular glass economy benefiting manufacturers across Tanzania. By integrating collection, processing, and reuse systems, the model is designed to scale efficiently, supporting both urban and rural waste management challenges.
PETPRO Managing Director Nicholaus Jackson emphasized the broader impact, noting that the partnership will create economic opportunities along the recycling value chain.
