Northstar Recycling Co., a Massachusetts-based waste and recycling solutions provider, has acquired Lewiston, New York-based Waste Technology Services (WTS), a specialist in industrial waste management and environmental consulting.
WTS brings expertise in managing industrial byproducts and reusable materials through its Responsible Care Management System, a framework that emphasizes regulatory compliance, process optimization, and sustainable waste diversion. With the acquisition, Northstar gains access to technical services and consulting capabilities that complement its existing operations and expand its reach in regulated and technology-driven markets.
For Northstar, the acquisition follows three strategic deals completed since its 2021 recapitalization, reflecting the company’s ambition to consolidate the fragmented industrial waste and recycling services market. Co-founders Seth and Noah Goodman highlighted that combining the two organizations provides greater scale, technical expertise, and resources, reinforcing Northstar’s position as a sustainability-oriented solutions provider.
The integration of WTS enhances Northstar’s ability to deliver data-driven outcomes, including improved waste diversion metrics, compliance tracking, and optimized service delivery, responding to increasing regulatory pressure and corporate sustainability targets. As industrial customers increasingly prioritize circular economy practices, the merger positions Northstar to provide holistic solutions that balance operational efficiency, environmental performance, and cost management.
By aligning with WTS, Northstar also strengthens its consulting portfolio, enabling clients to assess, manage, and minimize environmental impacts across their manufacturing processes. The move underscores a broader industry trend toward integrated waste management models, where service providers combine technical expertise, operational scale, and sustainability metrics to meet evolving market demands.
