Cabot Corporation has strengthened its North American manufacturing capabilities for circular reinforcing carbons through its EVOLVE® Sustainable Solutions technology platform, establishing its Ville Platte, Louisiana facility as a certified production site alongside Mauá, Brazil, and Valasske Mezirici (Valmez), Czech Republic.
These carbons are derived from tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) sourced from end-of-life tires and leverage an ISCC PLUS mass balance approach, providing traceable and certified sustainable inputs for industrial applications.
The expansion positions Cabot as a key supplier in the drive for sustainable tire production, responding to industry targets of 40% sustainable material usage by 2030 and 100% by 2050. Circular reinforcing carbons act as drop-in replacements for traditional carbon black, allowing tire manufacturers to increase the sustainable content of their products without compromising performance.
Cabot’s approach reflects a broader shift toward regionalized production and supply chain efficiency, emphasizing a “make-in-region, sell-in-region” model. The company also broadened its ISCC PLUS certified site network to 14 facilities globally, including 12 reinforcing carbon sites across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, and two masterbatch and compounding sites in Europe. This certification ensures traceability, greenhouse gas savings, and compliance with ecological and social standards, while mass balance accounting tracks recycled feedstock through complex industrial supply chains.
The North American expansion signals growing demand for circular materials solutions, particularly in the tire industry, where manufacturers seek to integrate sustainable feedstocks without altering performance metrics. By leveraging TPO-based circular reinforcing carbons, Cabot not only enhances sustainability outcomes but also reduces reliance on fossil-derived carbon black, aligning industrial growth with environmental responsibility.
